The Blazing Star is foundation paper piecing and foundation strip piecing. Both are used to assemble the units required to make this quilt. Traditional piecing techniques are used to join the units after the foundation piecing is completed. The paper piecing technique allows you to make stunning and complex quilts, while making perfect points with ease.

The foundation piecing designs are printed on newsprint and because it is light weight, it tears away from the stitches without damaging the threads.

**TOP TIP** There is an excellent tutorial (video and photographic) that Judy has done on YouTube. Plus, be sure to look on her website for many of her designs, including beginner tutorials. I just love tutorials because they take the learning curve for making a new pattern to a much more manageable level. So...
